Common listing errors and how to fix them

A field guide to the error messages you'll see in Crosslister — what each one means and the one-step fix.

“Authentication failed” / 401
Your marketplace session expired. Open Marketplaces → Reconnect on the affected one. Takes 10 seconds.
“Captcha required” / 403
The marketplace wants to verify you're human. Open the marketplace in a normal tab, complete the captcha, then return to Closo and retry.
“Category required”
The marketplace needs a category Closo couldn't auto-pick. Open the listing, scroll to the marketplace's panel, pick a category from the dropdown.
“Photo upload failed”
Usually a transient marketplace issue. Wait 60 seconds and click Retry. If it persists, the photo file may be corrupt — re-upload it to Closo.
“Item specifics missing” (eBay)
eBay's 2024 update made many fields required. Closo highlights them in red — fill them in (Brand, Size Type, Color, etc.) and retry.
“Listing exceeds limits”
Some marketplaces cap how many active listings you can have (Mercari 1500, Vinted 5000). Delist sold/old items first.
“Title too long”
Mercari is 80 chars; Poshmark is 80; eBay is 80; Vinted is 50; Depop is 65. Closo will trim — but you may want to write a shorter title yourself.
