Marketplaces don't let you stay logged in forever. Sessions on Mercari last about 30 minutes; Vinted is similar; Poshmark and Depop can stretch a few hours; eBay's 2-hour access token gets refreshed every hour. To do anything reliably across all of them, Closo has to keep your session warm in the background — picking up fresh cookies as you browse, refreshing before things expire where it can, detecting when something breaks, and telling you when we need help.
This article explains what 'connection health' means, what each badge color stands for, and what you should do when one of them changes.
What is connection health?
Every marketplace you've connected to Closo has a health badge. You can see them on the Marketplaces page. Three colors:
Green — healthy
Yellow — needs attention soon
Red — broken
How sessions actually stay warm
Most of the time, Closo doesn't have to do anything special to keep you connected — your own browsing does it. As you use Poshmark, Mercari, or Depop normally, those sites hand your browser fresh login cookies, and the extension captures them. On top of that passive harvest, a couple of active mechanisms fill the gaps:
Background tick (about every 30 minutes)
On-demand warm-up
eBay and Shopify (server-side OAuth)
When health goes from green to yellow
Yellow doesn't mean something is broken yet. It means our last automated refresh attempt got an unexpected response. The most common reasons:
The marketplace served a CAPTCHA — usually after a rapid burst of activity (your normal browsing plus Closo's queue work). The next quiet hour is usually enough to clear it. If it doesn't, log into that marketplace in a fresh tab, solve the CAPTCHA, and Closo picks up from there.
The marketplace temporarily blocked your IP (rare) or returned a 5xx server error. We back off and retry on the next cycle. Almost always self-heals.
Something changed on the marketplace's side — a new login page format, a new bot defense check. We deploy a fix usually within 24 hours; yellow becomes green again automatically.
What to do
When you see yellow, the right move is almost always: do nothing for an hour and check back. We're already working on it in the background.
When you see red, click Re-connect on that marketplace. The flow takes 30-60 seconds — log in to the marketplace in a new tab, click Closo's confirmation, you're done.
If a marketplace stays red after re-connecting, see /help/a/extension-cant-reach-marketplace for deeper troubleshooting.
