For a long time, Vinted was the only marketplace where Closo could refresh your session on a fixed schedule without your help. For Poshmark, Depop, and Mercari, an expired session often meant logging back in manually before crosslisting could resume. We've improved how the extension keeps those three sessions alive — this article explains how it actually works now.
How session freshness works
Everything that keeps your marketplace sessions warm runs inside the Closo browser extension — there is no separate server-side service holding your marketplaces open 24/7. The extension keeps sessions fresh in three different ways depending on the marketplace:
Vinted runs on a fixed timer. The extension has a scheduled refresh that fires every 30 minutes to renew your Vinted session token. This is the one marketplace with a true background refresh alarm.
eBay refreshes server-side over OAuth. Because eBay uses OAuth tokens rather than browser cookies, Closo renews your eBay connection on our servers — the token-refresh job runs hourly. Nothing browser-side is needed for eBay.
Poshmark, Depop, and Mercari stay fresh from your browsing. These three use browser-session cookies, so the extension keeps them current two ways: (1) it passively captures fresh login cookies whenever you browse those sites normally, syncing them about every 30 minutes; and (2) when a queued crosslisting action needs fresh cookies and yours have gone stale, the extension opens a quick warm-up tab on demand to renew the session right before it acts. There is no fixed 24- or 50- or 180-minute refresh clock for these marketplaces.
Why no fixed timer for those three
Each of these marketplaces has its own bot defenses — Poshmark uses PerimeterX plus Akamai, Depop uses Akamai plus Datadome, Mercari sits behind Cloudflare. Hammering them on a fixed clock is exactly the kind of pattern those systems flag. Tying refresh to your real browsing (plus a just-in-time warm-up only when an action needs it) keeps the traffic looking human and keeps your account in good standing.
What you'll notice
The more you browse a marketplace normally, the fresher Closo keeps that session — your everyday activity becomes free fuel for keeping the connection alive. If a session does go stale, the on-demand warm-up usually renews it before your queued action runs, so 'please reconnect' badges should become less common.
If your dashboard still shows yellow for any of these marketplaces, the most likely cause is the underlying marketplace did a behavior-based throttle (CAPTCHA), not a refresh failure. See /help/a/how-connection-health-works for what each badge color means.
